Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: Before medical school, I did research for several years at DFCI, MIT, and in a biotech startup. I researched the microbiome’s influence on the initiation and progression of non-small cell lung cancer. After, I worked on

reverse engineering T cells to attack cancers.
Outside of the lab, I can be found in my kitchen, pretending I’m on The Bear and working on my ever-evolving recipe book.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: BIDMC offers world-class training with options to pursue research and sub-specialities, allowing us explore different interests. This flexibility, along with BIDMC’s incredible support and resources, will help me build the career I want while learning from the best doctors in the world. Plus, I loved all the people I met during my interview and touring the hospital!

Why did you choose BIDMC?: I was drawn by the high acuity patient population, exposure to a variety of clinical sites, and supportive faculty with a wide range of interests. On my second look day, the residents were so kind and welcoming, and I knew that BIDMC would be the perfect place to start my career as a doctor!

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: Before medical school, I spent ten years working in restaurants across New York City, including Michelin-rated spots and some of the World's 50 Best Bars. I’ve
always loved connecting with people through shared experiences—whether over a meal or while traveling. I’ve backpacked through much of Southeast Asia, and right before starting residency, I hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Why did you choose BIDMC?: I chose BIDMC because the people were incredible—welcoming, passionate, and clearly invested in both learning and each other. The training is strong and well-rounded, and I really appreciate how the program balances high expectations with genuine support. What also stood out to me was the 3+1 structure, which offers the option to stay on for an extra year as a part-time attending while diving into a niche area of interest. That kind of flexibility and mentorship speaks to how much BIDMC values its residents’ growth, both clinically and personally.

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: Before medical school, I worked as an environmental scientist and engineer, so sustainability and conservation remain a huge part of my life. I’m passionate about nature and love exploring the outdoors through surfing, diving, rock climbing, and more recently

learning to sail. Never saw a body of water I wouldn't jump in.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: I really like balance the program strikes between community and academic emergency medicine. The option for an additional year also gives an understated advantage in building a career post residency.

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: I played soccer in college but am genuinely one of the clumsiest people I know—still not sure how I pulled that one off. In med school, my friends and I led the
only non-medicine-related med school club: art club. We met a local brewery once a month to hang out, paint, and purposely not talk about medicine. It was great.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: I instantly vibed with everyone on interview day and was very impressed with the opportunities this program has to offer, including the 3+1 model, the several community sites, and the exposure to event medicine working the Red Sox games at Fenway. I’ve also never lived in a walkable city with ample public transport before, so Boston itself is a huge perk, especially with it being literally on the ocean!
Aidan Fite, MD

Awards/Positions in Medical School: Emergency Medicine Interest Group Board Member, Member of Admissions Committee

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: I worked in the kitchen of a Michelin-starred restaurant in 7th and 8th grade, back when I had dreams of becoming a famous chef. I played college basketball and still play as much as I can. I am scuba certified

and love experiencing the underwater world. I am the proud father of a cat named Moxy.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: BIDMC blew me away on my interview day, and afterwards the more I learned about the program, the more I was impressed. It is a great combination of academic and wide-ranging community emergency medicine, and the program is very interested in helping residents pursue their passions and niches within the field of EM.

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York (Go Bills!) so I am excited to share that with my co-residents in the form of truck loads of chicken wing dip and
football this fall. I was an EMT for several years during college and medical school. I love the pre-hospital environment and the teams I was a part of during my time in EMS. I spend whatever free time I have outside with walks, jogs, rollerblading, pickleball, tennis, hiking, cycling, skiing - you name it and I’d probably give it a try!

Why did you choose BIDMC?: During the application and interview process, I thought about where I saw myself practicing medicine, my future career goals, and the niches within the specialty that I was most passionate about. BI was the program that opened every door and prepared me for any of these goals. During my interview day and second look, I saw the opportunity for individualized mentorship, training in a variety of clinical sites, and true support from admin and fellow residents. I knew this was a place where the work you put in during residency truly prepares you to be an empathetic, clinically strong physician.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: During my sub-internship at BIDMC, I was impressed by the collaborative culture, outstanding teaching environment, wide variety of clinical sites, and academic opportunities this program offers. The leadership’s dedication to fostering a supportive and innovative training experience was evident in every interaction. I was floored by the caliber of my now senior residents who demonstrated exceptional clinical acumen managing intense resuscitations back to back with minimal attending intervention needed. This program pushes you to become the best emergency medicine physician you can be!

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: I love to dance - a lot. I taught for many years during high school, college, and a bit after (mostly hip-hop/urban and Bollywood/Bhangra). If dance is

involved, I will say yes 99.99% of the time, but please excuse my horrendous singing (although I do love karaoke). I also love being outdoors whether it's hiking, kayaking, or camping.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: The vibes were vibing. I truly just clicked with the program and remember leaving my interview feeling excited to be part of the BI family. That in addition to the diversity in rotations and opportunities, high acuity, and 3+1 structure in a city that I love really drew me to the program. As I have started, I can attest that it has lived up to my expectations and that I feel part of the BI family.

states (planning a trip to Vermont so soon to be 46!). I have a lap dog named Benji and you can usually find me curled up with him and a good book.
Why did you choose BIDMC?: Everything just clicked for me on my second look day. Boston is amazing, the program is flexible, and the training is exceptional. But above all else, everyone was so welcoming, and I knew that I would feel at home at BI.

Fun Facts/ Interesting Past Life: I was originally a Computer Science major in college, but I fell in love with medicine after

joining my collegiate ambulance agency, Harpur's Ferry, where I went on to become the Executive Director and Chief of the agency while leading us to be awarded the NCEMSF Collegiate EMS Agency of the Year. Outside of medicine, I was a Division 1 swimmer in college and have a passion for golf, cooking and playing video games.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: I chose BIDMC for a variety of reasons including the 3+1 model, the split of academic and community medicine, and most importantly the people. Right before rank list submission, I got in touch with Jack Borucki, who was one of the interns in the class above me, and he toured me around BIDMC while introducing me to every single person in the ED (tech, nurse, physician, etc.). Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, that even in a short time, I felt like it was home and knew immediately that this is where I wanted to train.

Why did you choose BIDMC?: I chose BIDMC in part because the program leadership was supportive of my many interests, ranging from critical care, to quality improvement, and data analytics. Additionally, the high acuity and medical complexity of our patient population aligns with my interests in medical ICU management. I lived in Boston during and after undergraduate and was also excited to return to this great city!
