Welcome From Our Program Director
Dr. Amanda Doodlesack

Welcome to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (BIDMC-HAEMR)! We are so glad you are interested in our program. BIDMC-HAEMR is an amazing place to train, learn, grow, and to call home for the next 3 (+) years! We offer top notch clinical training alongside a fun, supportive, amazing group of people who become like family. Training at BIDMC-HAEMR will open doors. I am so thankful to have trained here, and it is an honor to now serve as program director!
The clinical training of our robust three-year program includes graduated responsibility, high acuity clinical experiences, and a holistic approach to your education. Our curriculum includes rotations at academic/tertiary care hospitals as well as many community hospitals with varying resources and diverse patient populations. These experiences train you to be an incredibly well-rounded clinician ready to excel as an attending in any clinical setting.
We offer a unique, guaranteed fourth-year opportunity that many graduates take advantage of. While you are a fully graduated attending after three years in our program, our fourth-year option offers you the mentorship and framework to pursue a niche area of expertise while practicing as an attending physician within our hospital network. Examples include, but are not limited to, Medical Education, Operations/Admin, Research, and Climate Change. Many also choose to pursue an advanced degree during their fourth-year, such as a MPH, MBA, or M. Ed.
While these outstanding attributes initially drew me to the program as a prospective applicant, it is the amazing BIDMC family and relationships that make our program so special. I am so glad you are interested in joining our BIDMC-HAEMR family and we look forward to welcoming you!
