We are the current Chief Residents for 2026–2027 and are excited that you’re considering our program. As you explore our website, we hope you get a sense of what makes our residency such a special place to train: our people.

​

Our three-year residency combines rigorous academic training with the experience of practicing emergency medicine in Boston. Residents also have the option of staying for a guaranteed fourth year, providing additional time to explore areas of interest, pursue fellowship training, and develop professionally with the guidance and mentorship of our dedicated faculty. Whether your goal is a career in academic or community emergency medicine, our program is designed to help you build the skills and connections to succeed.

 

Above all, it is our culture that makes BIDMC unique. We are fortunate to be part of a close and supportive emergency department where residents work alongside outstanding nurses, pharmacists, ED technicians, and other colleagues who are invested in our education and well-being. These relationships extend beyond the hospital, and the people we work with often become some of our closest friends.
